NLP: Hezbollah’s plans go beyond the Shebaa Farms
After its weekly meeting, the National Liberal Party issued a statement questioning the need to discuss a national defense strategy while Hezbollah Secretary General Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah has declared that the Islamic Resistance is implementing its own.
“How could people rely on a strategy supporting the Lebanese army and security forces, while the Guardianship of the Jurist is expanding its presence, arming and financing proxies?” the statement read, referring to the Iranian state’s ties to the Lebanese Hezbollah.
The statement went on to accuse Hezbollah of using the issues of the liberation of the Shebaa Farms and the Lebanese detainees in Israel as a pretext to maintain its weapons. “Hezbollah’s plans go beyond the liberation of the Shebaa Farms,” the statement said.
The NLP also called on all religious leaders “to call things by their names,” warning that people might lose trust in them. “This will force people to choose one of two options: either to defend themselves and their convictions, or to abandon the country.”
The party also called on the Arab League and the Security Council to carry out their responsibilities to Lebanon.
