Sleiman requests army, ISF take strict measures in Tripoli
Lebanese President General Michel Sleiman chaired a meeting on the security situation on Monday, which was attended by acting Army Commander General Shawki Al-Masri, Internal Security Forces Director General Ashraf Rifi, Military Intelligence Director Brigadier George Khoury, and Military Adviser to the President Brigadier Abdel Motlab Hannawi.
The conferees discussed the recent events in Tripoli in depth, particularly the army and ISF’s attempts to consolidate security and stability in neighborhoods fraught with tension.
Sleiman also gave instruction on the need to take additional security measures and ensure their firm application in response to the desire of a number of city officials and all citizens, who had placed their trust in security forces.
Sleiman concluded by thanking the efforts of the military, despite the difficult circumstances in which they operate and the poor resources available to them.
