Iraqi president slams Nasrallah
Iraqi President Jalal Talibani slammed Hezbollah Secretary General Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah for his call for resistance in Iraq.
“I hope the Lebanese try to solve their problems instead of giving advice to others,” Talibani said, also expressing his dissatisfaction with the Iraqi media for not covering Nasrallah’s statements well enough.
Talibani noted that most of Hezbollah’s leaders have long-standing relations with Iraq. “The Iraqi party Al-Daawa can take the credit for spreading Islam in Lebanon. Even some of Hezbollah’s officials were members of this party.”
“Unfortunately, Nasrallah’s information that the US wants to take over and occupy Iraq permanently was based on false estimations. Now there is a widespread campaign in the US calling for the withdrawal from Iraq,” Talibani added.
But he also noted that Baghdad has no evidence of Hezbollah’s implication in spreading violence or sabotaging progress in Iraq.
“Lebanese nationals belonging to Hezbollah or claiming to belong to the party were arrested several times, but we haven’t officially accused the party, and I don’t think it is behind these activities.”
