Salam reiterates need for state authority
Former MP Tammam Salam urged Lebanese leaders to maintain “an atmosphere of stability” and contribute to the formation of a national unity government based on the Doha agreement. Salam also called for national dialogue.
After meeting with Future bloc leader MP Saad Hariri, Salam pointed out that parliamentary elections were 10 months away and could only take place in a stable atmosphere in which a government was formed under “political coverage.”
“The pervasive security situation in the country sparks concern, especially with the incidents here and there,” he continued. “If there is a chance to put a definitive end to the security situation, it can only be through a national unity government, the rule of the state and law.”
