Jumblatt notes positive signs in Nasrallah’s speech
MP Walid Jumblatt, head of the Democratic Gathering bloc, said that Hezbollah Secretary General Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah’s statement Tuesday was encouraging and contained positive signs.
Nasrallah officially announced during his speech his support for the prisoner swap deal with Israel, which he said he expects to take place in two weeks’ time.
He also noted the party’s readiness to discuss the country and the Resistance’s defense strategy. “We have a comprehensive defense strategy, and we are ready for a discussion at any time,” Nasrallah said.
Jumblatt welcomed Nasrallah’s openness to dialogue. “We are ready for dialogue and didn’t reject it at any time,” he told the Lebanese daily As-Safir.
He also noted that dialogue is a main element of the Doha Agreement. “Nothing prevents a dialogue being held without preconditions by any party,” he added.
Jumblatt announced that he will be present at the welcoming back ceremony for prisoner Samir Kantar, who is a Druze, and the other detainees and bodies of dead fighters who are included in the swap deal between Israel and Hezbollah.
“This matter goes beyond any security or political consideration, and it is a humble gesture to show appreciation to all who have participated in the struggle with the Israeli enemy,” he added.
