MP Keirouz: The Qornet Al-Sawda incident is related to the legislative elections
MP Elie Keirouz of the Lebanese Forces said that the attack on a joint patrol of the Internal Security Forces and the police of Bcharre’s municipality at Qornet Al-Sawda in North Lebanon was carried out by supporters of former Premier Omar Karami from the Bqaasfarin village.
The patrol was shot at while inspecting infractions related to public water in the region.
According to Keirouz the problem is due to the illegal drawing of water from Qornet Al-Sawda in the direction of Bqaasfarin.
He also noted that contacts were made, before the incident, by MP Strida Geagea and himself with the appropriate authorities in order to bring these infractions to an end.
Keirouz noted that this incident was neither related to water problems or the Qornet Al-Sawda region but to the upcoming legislative elections.
