Suleiman Hints at Canceling Paris Visit if Cabinet Not Formed
President Michel Suleiman hinted at calling off his trip to Paris if no agreement was reached on the formation of the new government in the next few days, in addition to canceling a tour of Arab countries, Al Bayrak daily reported Tuesday.
It said that if the cabinet was not announced this week, then Suleiman will likely stand by his position and not go to Paris to attend a Mediterranean Union summit due July 13.
Meanwhile, Samir Geagea”s Lebanese Forces also hinted at not taking part in the new cabinet.
MP Strida Geagea said that in the event that the LF was not given a proportional government representation, then the party would not participate in the new cabinet.
The LF "would not hinder the formation of the cabinet … but would apologize for not participating," Strida Geagea said.
