Fatfat: “The March 14 Christians’ must be represented in a logical and realistic way
Youth and Sports Minister Ahmed Fatfat said that the cabinet is not a representative body, but only exists to take care of political issues.
“Every bloc has the right to be present in the cabinet according to the level of representation it deems appropriate,” Fatfat told the Lebanese daily Al-Balad.
“The opposition has taken six weeks to agree over the cabinet and the ministries it wants to handle. Yesterday night, MP Saad Hariri was back in Lebanon, and it is normal that he make several visits, including going to Maarab. It is very normal for him to consult with his team and for the consultations to take some time,” he added.
Fatfat noted the swift pace of the consultations within March 14, which he said he thinks will be over within 24 hours.
“The March 14 Christians’ position is right, because they have weight and popular support, which they proved in the 2007 Metn by-elections,” Fatfat told the paper.
“This group must be represented in a logical and realistic way according to its political weight,” he added.
