Patriarch Sfeir calls on the Lebanese for solidarity
From Australia, where he is on an official visit, Maronite Patriarch Nasrallah Sfeir called on the Lebanese to agree over the state’s project and to support the new and legitimate presidency of Michel Sleiman.
Sfeir also called for strengthening the Lebanese army so that it is the only body that has the right and the power to bear weapons.
The Patriarch called on the whole world to acknowledge the right of Palestinians to return to their homeland. “Lebanon is a place for Lebanese, and its soil is neither for selling nor for settlement,” he said.
He reiterated his call for giving Lebanese living abroad the right to vote and for reconsidering the legislation on nationality rights.
