Nazek Hariri meets with Sleiman in Paris
Lebanese President Michel Sleiman recalled the “grave loss” that befell Lebanon, the Arab countries and the world when five-time Prime Minister Rafik Hariri was assassinated by a car bomb in Beirut in 2005.
Sleiman, who met with Hariri’s wife Nazek at the Ritz in Paris, hailed Hariri as a “great national symbol and a statesman par excellence,” noting his nationalist positions on Lebanon, its people and Arab issues.
Nazek Hariri congratulated Sleiman on his election as President of the Republic and added her support for Sleiman’s inaugural speech, particularly on the International Tribunal, a UN-commissioned international investigation committee into the Hariri assassination.
Sleiman also said he hoped the circumstances surrounding the “heinous crime” would be clarified and the perpetrators brought to justice.
