Egyptian Ambassador to Lebanon Ahmed al-Beddawi reiterated Egypt’s support to Lebanon and said his country is not taking sides.
“Egypt has a strategic interest in Lebanon’s stability, and it is directing its support to the whole country for its benefit,” Beddawi said during a ceremony at the Egyptian Embassy for the 56th anniversary of the July 1956 Revolution.
“We support all efforts aimed at uniting the Lebanese,” Beddawi added.
In an interview earlier Thursday, Egyptian Foreign Minister Ahmed Abu al-Gheit also noted Egypt’s neutrality during the May crisis in Lebanon.
