Commander of the United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL) General Claudio Graziano on Thursday said he and his troops that believed that lasting peace in southern Lebanon was possible.
Graziano noted the dedication of the UNIFIL troops in pursuing their mission, in cooperation with the Lebanese Armed Forces, to ensure stability in the region.
At a ceremony held by the UNIFIL’s Nepalese battalion in the southern Lebanese town of Marjayoun, Graziano said the troops’ mission was “not over yet.”
“There are still new challenges ahead of us before we can say that the task is successfully completed, and we are ready to face those challenges with the commitment and determination of turning peace in southern Lebanon to a permanent reality,” he added.
