Diplomatic relations will fail if Syria does not radically change

 

The National Liberal Party headed by Dory Chamoun released a statement after its weekly meeting saying that Syria must change its convictions toward Lebanon and stop aspiring to take over the country.

 

The statement also said that Syria must recognize Lebanon as a sovereign and independent state in the same way the international community does.

 

“The establishment of Lebanese-Syrian relations must coincide with releasing the Lebanese detainees from Syrian prisons; uncovering the fate of the disappeared; drawing the border, starting with Shebaa; reviewing unjust existing agreements between the two countries; and ending Syrian interference in Lebanese domestic affairs,” the statement read.
