Hizbullah will now concentrate its efforts on targeting Israeli warplanes which continue to violate Lebanese airspace, the Israeli daily Maariv quoted security experts as saying.
They said that the Shiite group is acquiring more modern weaponry capable of hitting Israeli fighter jets.
"After the prisoner swap deal, Hizbullah adopted a defensive strategy," the experts told the daily on Sunday, adding that there was no longer the need to use the Israeli-occupied Shebaa Farms or the issue of Lebanese prisoners as pretexts to carry out attacks against the Jewish state.
The Shiite group, according to the experts, will use the issue of continued Israeli violations of Lebanese airspace, against which there is consensus in Lebanon, to attack Israel.
"Hizbullah does not want to risk an Israeli counterstrike, but on the other hand, it is growing stronger," defense sources told Maariv.
"For this reason, Israeli aircraft may be a suitable target," they said.
The report also said that Hizbullah is being subjected to local and Iranian criticism for "not resisting against Israel." This will lead the group to act.
The experts said that planned Hizbullah attacks against Jewish targets abroad to avenge the killing of its top commander Imad Mughniyeh in Damascus, were all aborted.
