MP Boutros Harb on Monday said that MP Head of the Loyalty to the Resistance bloc Mohammed Raad’s speech contradicted Doha Agreement.
“It was not possible for our political life to be permanently threatened by resorting to violence and imposing opinions through weapons and force,” he added.
Harb said he hoped that all parties would offer concessions on their previous positions in order to agree on the more controversial national issues and discuss points of controversy during the roundtable national dialogue.
“I previously warned that forming the national unity government before agreeing on a political program would lead to obstructions in the ministerial statement, especially concerning the issues that the Lebanese people disagree on,” he commented.
Harb added that he was not surprised with the delay in forming the ministerial statement, as the committee tasked with drafting the statement had been transformed to a condition-imposing mechanism which would only obstruct the political life in Lebanon and the government’s ability to serve Lebanon.
Harb also expressed his regret that every party was trying to score a victory against the other which contradicted the “spirit of national agreement that should be the base of the national unity government.”
On Progressive Socialist Party leader MP Walid Jumblatt’s recent statements, Harb said every individual had the right to make their comments, but this would not influence the cooperation and solidarity within the March 14 coalition. “It is very important to shed light on a few mistakes in order to correct them, and not make a big deal out of them,” he added
