MP Franjieh Warns Against Hizbullah Fait Accompli Maneuvers

MP Samir Franjieh accused Hizbullah of seeking to impose a "fait accompli status" on the new cabinet in a major breach of the Doha Accord.

Franjieh, in a radio interview, noted that the Doha Agreement did not mention Hizbullah”s resistance, at a time the party is trying to inject its resistance into a policy statement being drafted for the new government.

Such an attempt by Hizbullah aims at "exerting pressure through Lebanon in favor of the Iranian Nuclear Program, which has been confirmed by the deputy Iranian head of state," Franjieh added.

He said mentioning Hizbullah weapons in the policy statement contradicts with U.N. Security Council Resolution 1701 which ended a 34-day war between Israel and Hizbullah on Aug. 14, 2006.
