Former Minister Joe Sarkis on Friday said that Lebanese Army has the exclusive right to liberate territories and to defend Lebanese people.
He added: “There should be only one army and one state.”
After meeting Maronite Archbishop of Beirut Boulos Matar, Sarkis said that the Resistance’s weapons encroach on the sovereignty of the state.
Sarkis concluded that Lebanese people hope the 2009 elections will be fair because their fate will be decided then. They should have to choose between the powerful, democratic and sovereign Lebanon on the one hand, and a state of illegitimate weapons on the other, he said.
