U.N. Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon said he is keen on the international tribunal because the international organization is committed to the principle that criminals should not enjoy any immunity.
The pan-Arab daily al-Hayat said Saturday that Ban made the remark during a reception hosted by the Egyptian mission to the United Nations.
"You shouldn”t doubt my commitment to the culture of holding criminals accountable for their acts and you shouldn”t doubt my commitment to the international tribunal for Lebanon" that would try suspects in the 2005 assassination of ex-Premier Rafik Hariri and related crimes.
