Lebanese Forces leader Samir Geagea said that some are still influenced by the results of the 2005 legislative elections.
“These results were the outcome of specific events that no longer exist,” Geagea said at a dinner organised in Keserwan, a dominantly Christian are.
Geagea noted that the Christians had voted for a specific agenda and these votes were unfortunately employed by some for private reasons.
Geagea was hinting at the results that were achieved by Free Patriotic Movement candidates in the 2005 legislative elections and the Free Patriotic Movement electoral program which now clearly included a cover for Hezbollah’s weapons and agenda, something the Christian community would not stand for.
“The 2009 legislative elections will be authentic and different than 2005,” Geagea said.
He also stressed the importance of starting preparations for these elections in order to end the slogan of “representing 70% of Christians.”
MP Michel Aoun has been declaring that according to the results of the 2005 elections his political movement represents 70 percent of Christians.
