Minister of Justice Ibrahim Najjar said that he has not attained a look at the official dossier of the National Tribunal’s or its details.
Najjar to Kuwaiti newspaper Al-Kabs on Sunday said “all Lebanese people insisted the truth be uncovered”. Justice should be achieved, because not punishing those that committed these crimes and those who did not respect laws, had led Lebanon, and the Lebanese into this situation.
“Lebanese people were victims and Lebanon was under siege because of these insecure situations. I will not forget the assassinations’ dossier until the revelation of the truth,” he added.
He also mentioned that the process of the National Tribunal required ongoing investigations and conditions.
Najjar hoped that the tribunal would not be politicized in order to prove that Lebanon is civilized and cultural.
Najjar perceived that Lebanon could begin to benefit from solutions by organising the electoral elections for 2009 and reconsider certain items in the Lebanese Constitution in order to have them better define the relation between different authorities.
Najjar also said that Lebanon has arrived at the stage of “National Dialogue”, especially since the Syrian-Israel negotiations on the one hand, and Secretary General of Hezbollah Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah’s last speech following the prisoner swaps.
He hoped that the timetable of the Syrian-Israel negotiations set by Syrian President Bashar Al-Assad during his visit to Paris last month would be equivalent to the time needed to reach agreement over the concept of the Lebanese state.
