Berri Calls for Discussing Policy Statement on Friday
Parliament Speaker Nabih Berri called for a general session on Friday for cabinet policy statement discussion and vote of confidence.
A parliamentary vote of confidence on the statement will allow the government to begin to function officially.
Premier Fouad Saniora”s national unity cabinet has unanimously adopted a policy statement including a rather vague clause on Hizbullah”s resistance.
Copies of the policy statement were distributed to MPs on Tuesday.
The cabinet policy statement consumed 14 sessions by the ministerial committee tasked with drafting it following differences on the resistance issue.
The unity government was formed after a debilitating 18-month political.
