Berri: Policy Statement Discussions to End Early Next Week
Parliament Speaker Nabih Berri on Wednesday said he expects parliamentary discussions of the cabinet”s policy statement to end early next week, allowing the executive authority to shift into ruling the nation.
Berri made the remark to reporters after meeting President Michel Suleiman at the Baabda Palace.
He said 37 MPs have so far registered for tackling the policy statement.
Berri said Premier Fouad Saniora”s cabinet, labeled a cabinet of national unity, should move into filling in vacancies in major administrations of the public sector with a "spirit of national unity."
He said the forthcoming visit to Syria by President Suleiman is "important to both countries and to the region”s stability."
