Civil Defense Director Darwish Hobeika said the chain of Forest Fires hitting Lebanon”s wild life is "premeditated."
Hobeika said such fires "break out at night," although forest fires usually erupt at midday due to summer heat.
He said big states usually fail in combating "simultaneous" fires spread across several locations.
"We had fires in Aley, Bshamoun, Qartaba and Bishmizzine," Hobeika said.
"What is significant is that all these fires break out at night," he added.
Forest observers "cannot cover all the areas because who ever starts fires doesn”t need more than a small bottle of gasoline and a few seconds to set a forest on fire," he added.
The Civil Defense Directorate has 200 outposts each manned by four to five vehicles and "this is not enough," Hobeika stressed.
