Phalange Party leader Amin Gemayel said Hizbullah”s "authority is stronger than the authority of the state which has been taken captive by Iran”s strategy."
Gemayel made the remark in an interview with the pan-Arab daily Asharq al-Awsat.
Hizbullah, according to Gemayel has insisted on "obtaining government recognition of its weapons through the policy statement and rejects any discussion of the arms issue."
"They want a defense strategy adopted separate from the weapons issue," he added.
"We had wanted dialogue prior to the policy statement, but Hizbullah insisted on the contrary to achieve gains in the policy statement that could be the base for further discussions," Gemayel said.
He concluded that the "truce reached in Doha remains fragile as long as a faction remains armed."
