Arab League should not restrict its participation in Nation Dialogue

The General Coordinator of the March 14 coalition, former MP Fares Soueid called on the Arab League not to restrict its participation in the National Dialogue that will be held in the Baabda Presidential Palace under the direction of President Michel Sleiman.

Soueid said that Arab League Secretary General Amr Moussa has been claiming that the participation of the League will be limited to the opening session.

“This is an unacceptable abandonment of Lebanon,” Soueid said, noting the important role Lebanon played in the establishment of the Arab League.

“We call on Arab League Secretary General Amr Moussa and all Arab states, starting with Saudi Arabia, Egypt, Jordan and Qatar among others to remember that the participation of Arab states in National Dialogue was stipulated by the Doha Agreement, and that this participation will be critical to the Dialogue’s success,” Soueid said.
