Minister of Justice Ibrahim Najjar said that the investigation into Wednesday’s explosion in Tripoli – which killed over a dozen, nine of whom were soldiers – is moving forward.
In an interview with the Voice of Lebanon radio station, Najjar added that Lebanon’s attorney general said that some witnesses saw a perpetrator carrying a case of explosives, which security cameras have confirmed.
Najjar said that the explosion was in revenge against the army for fighting Palestinian Islamists in the summer of 2007 in the Nahr al-Bared camp, or it was an attempt to push the army into a confrontation.
“But we have to wait until the end of the investigations, and the least we can do is transfer this dossier to the Judicial Council” before making any official statements, Najjar said.
