Tension has returned to the northern port city of Tripoli after the main Tripoli-Akkar highway came under sniper fire Thursday evening.
The daily An Nahar on Friday said a man was wounded when unknown snipers in Baal Mohsen opened fire towards Bab al-Tabbaneh.
It said the incident quickly developed into exchange of gunfire between the two rival neighborhoods of Tripoli.
A military force, however, was promptly dispatched to the area to contain the clashes.
