A strong state will prevail
MP Georges Adwan of the Lebanese Forces bloc said that they “have no choice but the state”, and confirmed that “ a strong state will prevail and we will have a powerful state in control of all Lebanon.”
In an annual dinner for the Lebanese Forces on Friday at Bireh, Shouf Adwan said, “we support President Michel Sleiman, and if we did not have a strong president we would have been unable to negotiate with any state especially Syria which approved on establishing diplomatic ties with Lebanon; the request that made others accuse us of betrayal whenever we raised it.”
Adwan noted that Syria “wants to use Shebaa Farms as a playing card in its negotiations with Israel, at the time when Lebanon refuses to negotiate with the Israeli enemy and sticks to the Arab case.”
Adwan asked for separating between the missing people during the war and the political detainees in Syrian prisons who “are supposed to be released along with the announcement of those dead in order to finally close this humanitarian dossier.”
“The flow of weapons from Syria to Lebanon through the borders must be stopped because these weapons are not serving the Palestinian cause,” Adwan concluded.
