Quick conclusion to security and administrative appointments needed
Minister of State Nassib Lahoud said that the proper place to discuss security and administrative appointments was “in cabinet meetings not in the media.” Lahoud said it was critical that the issue be approached from a calm and objective perspective, but also stressed the importance of “concluding these appointments quickly.”
“The Lebanese need to have an army commander who cooperates with army and security forces to ensure security for all,” Lahoud said after a meeting with Egyptian Ambassador Ahmad al-Bidyawi on Tuesday.
Lahoud said that his meeting with the Egyptian ambassador was focused on relations between the two countries, as well as “Egypt’s continuous support for Lebanon.”
“Egypt wants to help Lebanon by providing it with gas and electric energy, and we hope that the results of our talks with Egypt will benefit all the Lebanese.”
Lahoud also called on “all political parties” to work to create a political situation that would allow the return “of Lebanese citizens from Israel,” and said that the cabinet should “facilitate this return according to practiced law.”
