Opposition “coup” to continue from within government
MP Ammar Houry on Thursday reiterated his rejection of any authority in Lebanon other than the Lebanese state and expressed skepticism that, despite its integration into the government, the opposition had not changed its tactics and would continue the so-called May coup from its position within the government.
The Future bloc MP said that the opposition’s call for expanded privileges for the deputy prime minister should have surfaced years ago.
While Prime Minister Fouad Siniora was working to improve Lebanon’s electricity and energy sectors and restore the world’s confidence in Lebanon, the opposition was working to instill “discord, hatred and discrimination … and violating constitutional institutions, which reveals their plan to continue to implement the May coup in a different way – from within the government,” Houry added.
