Culture Minister Tamam Salam said on Thursday there were more important issues than the powers of the deputy prime minister, singling out the drafting of a new electoral law.
After a meeting with Russian Ambassador Sergei Poukin, Salam called on all political parties to avoid conflict and belligerent language.
“We have been informed that Prime Minister Siniora has achieved important success for Lebanon with the energy issue after his visits to Egypt and Iraq,” Salam said.
“Confusion over administrative appointments is to be expected,” Salam said. “Nevertheless, security appointments must be made.”
Salam also said that quickly filling administrative positions “would have a positive effect on our economy.”
