New Election Law Opens Door to New Alliances
Parliament Speaker Nabih Berri said the importance of a decision to adopt the Qadaa-based election law of 1960 lies in the fact that it would "open the door to new alliances."
"Adopting electoral divisions would eliminate the law of year 2000," Berri said in remarks published by the daily As Safir on Saturday.
He expressed frustration over tension "be it within the government or concerning the government."
Berri called on the various political leaders to devote themselves to tackling economic issues and improving living conditions.
