Security Breaches….Bombs in Beirut, Shooting in Bekaa
A Lebanese citizen was wounded early Wednesday by gunfire in the eastern town of Taalbaya in a quarrel over hanging posters of Imam Moussa Sadr.
Security sources said the arguement took place between supporters of Speaker Nabih Berri”s AMAL Movement and partisans of MP Saad Hariri”s Mustaqbal group.
Lebanese army troops promptly set up checkpoints and began patrolling the area to avoid further clashes.
The incident came a few hours after unknown assailants hurled a percussion bomb in Beirut”s Tayyouneh tunnel, causing damage but no casualties.
In nearby Basta, a similar bomb was tossed but failed to explode.
Also around 10 pm Tuesday, a percussion bomb exploded near a mosque in the village of Bidyas in the southern port city of Tyre.
Security forces quickly deployed in the area and an investigation into the incident was opened.
Less than half an hour earlier, Lebanese citizen George Suleiman was found dead in his store in the Abdeh neighborhood in north Lebanon”s Akkar province.
