Majority got what it wanted from Tuesday’s parliament session

Head of the Lebanese Forces Executive Council Samir Geagea said on Wednesday that the March 14 alliance’s demands were approved because Tuesday’s parliamentary session concluded the transfer of the electoral law issue to the Administration and Justice Committee to study thoroughly.

Geagea told Ad-Diyar that Tuesday’s session showed that some parties’ attempts to prove to the public that they were right, a reference to the opposition, did not lead to any results.

He added that even though the March 14 coalition got what it wanted from Tuesday’s session, it was not because it was “heroic,” as all political parties had previously approved the electoral law during the Doha Conference.

Geagea told the paper that electoral redistricting should be approved at the same time as the electoral reforms.

He called for considering the electoral law formulated by the Fouad Boutros Committee in 2006, especially the part about granting emigrants the right to vote.
