Sfeir wants Neutral Army Commander
Maronite Patriarch Nasrallah Sfeir on Wednesday called for naming a "neutral" commander for the Lebanese Army.
The new army commander, Sfeir added, should also be "at the same distance from all the political parties."
Sfeir, talking to visitors at his summer seat in the northern mountain resort of Diman, said "democracy should take its course in Lebanon like it is in all states of the world, where the opposition opposes and the majority rules."
That was in apparent criticism of the cabinet of national unity, which groups ministers from both the opposition and majority in the same executive authority.
