Details of helicopter shooting will be revealed
General coordinator of the March 14 coalition, former MP Fares Soueid, told the Free Lebanon radio station on Saturday that more details of Thursday’s attack on a Lebanese army helicopter, which killed an officer, would be revealed in the coming weeks.
Soueid said that Hezbollah Secretary General Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah referenced this incident in his speech on May 26, 2008 when he said, “There is a strategy; Hezbollah’s strategy is to fight.”
Soueid added that Nasrallah had called on Future Movement leader MP Saad Hariri to allow “cohabitation” between Hezbollah and the Lebanese state, which he said had existed under the leadership of assassinated former Prime Minister Rafik Hariri.
Soueid asked whether such “cohabitation” was possible, noting that the principle of having an armed force existing alongside the state was refused in 1975, leading to the civil war.
Soueid said that the March 14 coalition would not miss any chance to convince Hezbollah that this style is ineffective.
He also said that it was the president’s duty to preserve the Doha Agreement, conduct the national dialogue, and guarantee that the weapons issue would be discussed during the national dialogue.
