Law against Palestinian nationalization requested
MPs Boutros Harb, Michel Pharaoun, Akram Chehayeb, Ammar Houri, Antoine Zahra, Atef Majdalani and Ghazi Youssef presented a letter to President Michel Sleiman urging him to initiate a reassessment of the constitution and to amend Article 77, which states that during an ordinary session and at the request of at least ten of its members, the Chamber of Deputies may recommend by a two-thirds majority the revision of the constitution.
The MPs noted in the letter the dangers of Palestinian nationalization, bringing up their right to return to their homeland as mentioned in UN Security Council Resolution 194. They also requested that the amendment should state that the whole parliament must agree on anything related to the partition of Lebanon or the nationalization of Palestinians.
