Gen. Qahwaji and the Major Loss for the Army and the Resistance
Army Commander Gen. Jean Qahwaji said martyrdom of Air Force Captain Samer Hanna is a "major loss for the army and the resistance."
Qahwaji made the remark during a ceremony at the army headquarters while assuming command of the regular force from Chief of Staff Gen. Shawqi al-Masri who held the post of acting commander since May when former army chief Michel Suleiman was elected president.
Qahwaji pledged that investigation in the shooting down of Hanna”s chopper in the Hizbullah-controlled southern region of Sujud last week would "persist until all the details are disclosed."
He vowed to modernize the regular force, noting "unity of the army safeguards unity of the Homeland. Our loyalty should be to Lebanon."
