Geagea For 2009 Elections Despite Hizbullah Weapons
Lebanese Forces leader Samir Geagea on Monday said results of the 2009 elections would determine Lebanon”s fate and nature of its political system.
"Competition would be between two totally colliding agendas and voters would have to choose between a free and democratic Lebanon or the Lebanon ruled by fundamental-totalitarian factions," Geagea said.
He said Hizullah weapons would "have a great influence on the forthcoming elections and would be used either to disperse Shiite opponents or to reject the results."
However, "we are determined on proceeding with plans aimed at organizing free and democratic elections," Geagea added.
Lebanon, he said, is the "last stronghold for Christians in the Middle East that is why we have major responsibilities to shoulder."
