Political Leaders Welcome Suleiman”s Dialogue Call
The daily An-Nahar on Wednesday polled the opinions of various political leaders who all welcomed President Michel Suleiman”s call for national dialogue.
"It was a blissful surprise," commented former President Amin Gemayel.
"I hope the move would inspire the leaders into putting love in their hearts for their country," he added.
A source close to Mustaqbal Movement leader and MP Saad Hariri said: "Nothing is more important than dialogue."
"It is an opportunity to move forward," the source said.
Druze leader Walid Jumblat, for his part, welcomed Suleiman”s dialogue call, describing it as "good."
Meanwhile, head of Hizbullah”s Loyalty to the Resistance parliamentary bloc Mohammed Raad said the party was "fully ready" to engage in dialogue.
"We are open to discussing any item … which would provide stability and consolidate peace-building," Raad added.
Lebanese Forces leader Samir Geagea, in turn, said Suleiman”s invitation was a "delightful surprise."
A source with Michel Aoun”s Free Patriotic Movement hailed the call for dialogue and said the first session would be dedicated to define topics to be discussed at the national talks.
