Abu Jamra: The May 7 Attack Was Necessary
Deputy Premier Issam Abu Jamra said the May 7 attack by Hizbullah and allies against Beirut was "necessary."
Abu Jamra, a founding member of Michel Aoun”s Free Patriotic Movement, made the remark at an Iftar banquet hosted by the Islamic Charity Institute for Jbeil and kesrouan.
"It was important for what happened on May 7 to happen to bring them back to wisdom, withdraw the hasty decisions, accept the election of a consensus president, the formation of a national unity cabinet in which 11 ministers from the opposition take part and the 1960 election law," Abu Jamra said.
He pledged that if "they need a second shock they would get it on the coming May 7, the date set for the forthcoming elections."
