Lebanon should respond to Aridi killing with reconciliation
Minister of State Nassib Lahoud condemned the Wednesday night assassination of Sheikh Saleh Aridi, and said the killing, coming as it did in the wake of recent reconciliation efforts and President Michel Sleiman’s announcement that the national dialogue will begin on September 16, raised many troubling questions.
Lahoud told reporters on Thursday that the people of Lebanon should respond to the assassination by making every effort to bring about reconciliation and a successful nation dialogue, which, he said, would create a common vision to defend the country against the threats it faced.
