Enemies do not respect Lebanese sovereignty
MP Antoine Zahra told the Kuwaiti Al-Anbaa newspaper on Saturday that “terrorist attacks continued because Lebanon’s enemies were not convinced of the country’s independence, sovereignty and freedom.”
Zahra confirmed that the March 14 alliance would face violent challenges because it supported reconciliation in different Lebanese regions.
He added that Wednesday night’s assassination of Democratic Party official Sheikh Saleh Aridi aimed to obstruct communication between the Druze and the atmosphere of reconciliation.
Zahra said that the assassination attempted to send a message to members of the upcoming September 16 national dialogue, after several failed attempts to postpone or obstruct it.
He added that the Doha Agreement stated that the defense strategy was the only issue to be discussed during the dialogue and that it limited the number of participants to those present during the 2006 roundtable.
