Christians unity through one vision not by supporting one leader
In an interview with the Free Lebanon radio station on Saturday, MP Solange Gemayel said that the Christian Resistance and the Islamic Resistance differed in their political paths and objectives.
Gemayel said that both resistances had “martyrs”, and hoped that they would lead to Lebanese unity.
She added that Christians should be united by having one vision, and not by supporting one leader.
Gemayel noted that the March 14 alliance remained united despite the existence of different opinions, and that she was satisfied about the status of Christians within the coalition.
Gemayel said that Christian voters would have to choose between two agendas during the 2009 parliamentary elections. She said that “the first option is a sovereign, free and independent Lebanon, and the second is a Lebanon that is Iran’s follower.”
She added that Syria and Iran were working against Lebanese interests, but that the Lebanese people were determined to keep the country in the international spotlight.
She said that she would not condone any party that imposed its opinion by force and threats.
