Maronite Patriarch Nasrallah Boutros Sfeir said during Sunday prayers that the situation in the wider region, and conflicts in different areas of Lebanon, did not encourage attempts at fostering peace.
Sfeir added that some parties undermined the credibility of, threw accusations towards and spread misleading information about other Lebanese parties under the pretense of fighting corruption.
He praised the efforts of the Maronite Union and other Lebanese authorities, who have attempted to achieve peace among the Maronite people.
Sfeir called on everyone to pray for peace.
