Final Report on 2009 Electoral Law Thursday
Head of the Administration and Justice Parliamentary Committee MP Robert Ghanem said that the committee’s final report on the 2009 electoral law would be handed to Speaker Nabih Berri on Thursday.
After the committee’s weekly meeting on Monday at the parliament building, Ghanem said that it was important that the elections take place in one day across all Lebanese regions, adding that if Lebanese living abroad did not have the chance to vote in 2009, it was important to make sure they would get to vote in the next round of elections, in 2013.
In addition, the Transportation and Public Works Parliamentary Committee approved Interior Minister Ziad Baroud’s recent decision to implement a road safety campaign. It also called for ending the practice of private citizens buying and selling special license plates between each other or in auctions.
