The Lebanese Forces Express Disappointment
The Lebanese Forces issued a press release after its meeting on Tuesday expressing disappointment with a number of responses to Lebanese Forces leader Samir Geagea’s speech on Sunday in which he apologised for his party’s possible past mistakes. The statement said certain responses were bias and “outside the framework of political ethics, as if some parties preferred civil war in one way or another. Instead of taking a similar step, they insisted on reviving the tragedies of the past in a distorted way, at a time when the Lebanese and the Christians in particular, look for a secure and stable future.”
The statement also said that the Lebanese Forces valued the efforts made by the organizing committee and the volunteers for the Sunday commemoration service in which Geagea made his speech. It said it also valued the tremendous outpouring of compassion of the attendees.
During the meeting, the bloc discussed every article of the new electoral law, which the Administration and Justice Parliamentary Committee is finishing today to hand to Parliament Speaker Nabih Berri. The Lebanese Forces said it would discuss the law with its MPs, who will take part in the vote in parliament.
