Ain el-Hilweh Blast Kills One, Wounds Four
A powerful bomb exploded in the Palestinian refugee camp of Ain el-Hilweh on Tuesday, killing one person and wounding four.
Witnesses told Naharnet the bomb went off close to the main gate to the Nour Mosque, which is run by the Islamic Mujahideen Movement headed by Sheikh Jamal Khattab.
The fatality was identified as Ahmed Qassem, but his political affiliation could not be immediately established.
The victims were admitted to hospitals and clinics within the camp, which indicates that they are members of militant factions banned by the Lebanese authorities.
Gunmen took to the streets of the shantytown as ambulances, their sirens wailing, rushed to evacuate casualties.
