March 8 Coalition Attempting to Destabilize the Security Situation
Lebanese Forces bloc Antoine Zahra told the Kuwaiti newspaper As-Siyassa on Friday that Hezbollah has intervened in the North since the turmoil of January 23, 2007, when the opposition burned tires and blocked roads in different areas.
He added that Hezbollah was providing northern fractions with weapons, equipment, and military training. Zahra also noted that Hezbollah has not ruled out intervening if the region witnesses disturbances.
In contrast, he said that the LF has referred to judicial authorities in all attacks against Marada Movement partisans since 2005.
Zahra refuted the Marada Movement’s claim that the LF agreed to forge reconciliation under the condition by excluding MP Michel Aoun, because the LF is mindful that the Marada Movement and the Free Patriotic Movement cannot change their allies with national and regional parties.
He said that the March 8 coalition was trying to destabilize the security situation within the Christian community to avoid potential losses in the parliamentary elections in 2009.
