Voter Freedom and Security are the Cabinet’s Major Responsibilities
Minister of State Wael Abu Faour said that the electoral law would pave the way for achieving stability at a political level before the 2009 parliamentary elections, which he said would define the will of the Lebanese voters.
During a ceremony in honor of successful students in Rachaya on Saturday, Abu Faour added that the freedom and safety of voters were the cabinet and political authorities’ major responsibility. He also called for the development of a new political, security, military, media, economic and development plan in order to preserve the peace, in addition to ongoing regional reconciliation efforts.
Abu Faour said that the rejection of the proposal to lower the voting age to 18 years was an “injustice,” because the youth would carry out an important role in improving the political system.
He said he hoped that reconciliations would be achieved in different areas.
